Ingredients
  

Fruit Layer
  • 2 cups Blueberries, fresh or frozen If using frozen, no need to thaw.
  • 1 can Blueberry pie filling Boosts the jammy texture.
  • 1 tsp Lemon zest Adds brightness.
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice Squeeze of fresh lemon.
  • 1 tbsp Sugar Adjust according to berry tartness.
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch Only if berries are extra juicy.
Cake Mixture
  • 1 box Yellow cake mix Classic dump cake ingredient.
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted Drizzled on top.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Flavor enhancer.
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon Adds warmth.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances sweetness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, stir together the blueberry pie filling, blueberries, lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla, and salt.
  2. If berries are very juicy, stir in cornstarch to thicken.
  3. Taste and add sugar if desired.
  4. Pour the mixture into a buttered baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly on top.
  6. Drizzle melted butter all over the cake mix.
Baking
  1. Bake in a preheated oven until the top is golden and the edges are bubbling, about 30 to 35 minutes.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a delicious contrast. Leftovers can be reheated gently.
